Description

Between the quest for aesthetics and the call of the Orient While still an architecture student, he set off to discover Thailand and then Indonesia, where he immersed himself in the local culture and chose to settle in the Orient for several years. He rubbed shoulders with numerous artists and craftsmen, whose work he imported, before turning to advertising design, always balancing between Asia and the Orient. It was through his discovery of Zen meditation and the Japanese aesthetic and spiritual concept of Wabi-Sabi that he found his own artistic language: a raw, luminous art that celebrates imperfection, patina and the traces left by time. The WABI-SABI philosophy The art and beauty of imperfection and impermanence, reflecting the cycle of life. The Wabi-Sabi style celebrates raw, natural materials. It values textures and irregularities. Forms are simple, organic and in harmony with nature. By choosing used objects, Berny prolongs their existence and makes a modest contribution to reducing our environmental impact in a "slow art" approach.
A meeting with the artist will take place on Saturday September 20 at 3pm at Micro-Folie.
