Description

Conference with Serge Berthier, physicist at the Paris Institute of Nanosciences and professor emeritus at Paris-Diderot University, is a specialist in bio-inspiration. Convinced that the living world has a lot to teach us, he recently contributed to the permanent exhibition at the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie entitled "Bio-inspired: another approach". His FluOREST exhibition is an invitation to take a 'spectral' walk through the tropical forests of Amazonia and South-East Asia. These biotopes, which are home to a wealth of animal and plant biodiversity, are the site of astonishing optical phenomena, many of which are little-known and whose functions have yet to be elucidated.
The exhibition is divided into three distinct sections: the visible (human), the ultraviolet and the near infrared, the three spectral ranges that make up the solar spectrum, as well as the mid-infrared corresponding to the radiation of living organisms.
