La diversité est une propriété fondamentale du monde vivant. Elle résulte de processus d’ajustement des caractéristiques des organismes à l’environnement et d’interactions variées entre organismes. Organismes et environnement constituent des écosystèmes, ensembles complexes, dont la durabilité dépend du niveau de diversité biologique. Celle-ci est en régression rapide et remet en cause, avec le changement climatique notamment, la viabilité de notre planète. Pourtant, la biodiversité est en elle-même source de solutions, déjà disponibles ou à venir.
