Exposition : "Ludovic Gaillard, bâtisseur périgourdin du XIXe siècle" à Sorges – 01-09-2025 – Sorges et Ligueux en Périgord

Cette exposition retrace la vie d'un sorgeais au XIXe siècle. Ludovic Gaillard né à Poux, autodidacte, a un parcours hors norme. Bâtisseur, il s'est illustré dans la construction de nombreux ouvrages d'art (ponts, tunnels, viaducs), des voies de chemin de fer tant en France (tunnel de Thiviers) qu'à l'étranger (Turquie, Russie, Indochine, Egypte, Algérie, Tunisie, etc) Périgourdin, il a remis en activité les papeteries des Castilloux (Nanthiat) et de Brugère (Nantheuil). Humaniste, il a construit une cité ouvrière entre ses deux usines. Mécène, on lui doit, à Périgueux, le Palace, qu'il a mis à disposition de la société des Beaux-arts. Photographe, il nous laisse de nombreux clichés du Périgord pris entre 1880 et 1910. Durant cette exposition, photos et textes permettront de présenter le parcours exceptionnel de Ludovic Gaillard et le sortir ainsi de l'oubli.

This exhibition retraces the life of a Sorgian in the 19th century. Born in Poux, Ludovic Gaillard was a self-taught man with an extraordinary career. A builder, he distinguished himself in the construction of numerous engineering structures (bridges, tunnels, viaducts) and railroads both in France (Thiviers tunnel) and abroad (Turkey, Russia, Indochina, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, etc.). A native of Périgord, he revived the Castilloux (Nanthiat) and Brugère (Nantheuil) paper mills. A humanitarian, he built a workers' housing estate between his two mills. A patron of the arts, he donated the Palace in Périgueux to the Société des Beaux-arts. As a photographer, he left us numerous snapshots of Périgord taken between 1880 and 1910. During this exhibition, photos and texts will present Ludovic Gaillard's exceptional career and help to bring him out of oblivion.

Diese Ausstellung zeichnet das Leben eines Sorgesers im 19. Jahrhundert nach. Der in Poux geborene Ludovic Gaillard, ein Autodidakt, hat einen außergewöhnlichen Lebenslauf. Als Baumeister hat er sich beim Bau zahlreicher Kunstwerke (Brücken, Tunnel, Viadukte) und Eisenbahnstrecken sowohl in Frankreich (Tunnel von Thiviers) als auch im Ausland (Türkei, Russland, Indochina, Ägypten, Algerien, Tunesien usw.) hervorgetan Als Périgourdin nahm er die Papierfabriken von Castilloux (Nanthiat) und Brugère (Nantheuil) wieder in Betrieb. Als Humanist baute er zwischen seinen beiden Fabriken eine Arbeitersiedlung. Als Mäzen verdanken wir ihm das Palace in Périgueux, das er der Gesellschaft der Schönen Künste zur Verfügung stellte. Als Fotograf hinterließ er uns zahlreiche Aufnahmen des Périgord, die zwischen 1880 und 1910 entstanden. Während dieser Ausstellung werden Fotos und Texte den außergewöhnlichen Werdegang von Ludovic Gaillard vorstellen und ihn so aus der Vergessenheit holen.
