Description
"Son and grandson of a sailor, I was born in Camaret-sur-Mer How could I fail to remember my youth spent between the shipyards and the hustle and bustle of a bustling fishing port. The shipyards built the famous "langoustiers" and boats of all kinds. So, having listened to my father?s relentless criticism of a boat?s lines, I now allow myself to appreciate the work of the shipwright and the elegance of a vessel. This knowledge of the maritime world naturally led me to painting in a figurative style. Self-taught, passionate about drawing and painting, I travel all over Brittany as a tireless lover of the region. Faithful to the Triskel, my paintings tell the story of water, air and earth. The Breton coast allows me to sketch its landscapes and paint the sea as I see it. Brittany, a land of predilection for painters, offers multiple variations of light from which I draw my inspiration. I express it in a style I call "modern figurative", as close as possible to what I feel. My paintings are representative, although not realistic. I work primarily outdoors, trying to capture global sensations. This approach ranges from sketches to photographs, always with an eye for detail, relying above all on my instinct and knowledge of the subject. Then, in the studio, my work is more thoughtful, with a calmer, more serene approach. The execution of the work is better controlled at the risk of spontaneity. I chose acrylics as my medium, because I wanted a technique that would not be toxic either for me or for my environment. I handle all techniques, but with a certain level of expertise. "
