LE SENTIER DES GLACIÈRES – Pradelles-Cabardès

C’est depuis Pradelles-Cabardès que l’on peut grimper jusqu’au Pic de Nore, le point culminant de la Montagne Noire (1 211 m). Autour du village, des constructions originales interpellent le promeneur. Nous sommes au XIXème siècle, Pradelles-Cabardès vit l’hiver dans le froid et l’isolement. La neige, en couches successives ne cesse de recouvrir le plateau. Ils sont 1, puis 2 puis 3… À construire des silos souterrains étanches qui permettront de conserver pendant plusieurs mois la neige ramassée par les femmes et les hommes du village. Ambitieux, courageux et entreprenants, ils seront une poignée à commercialiser la glace-neige de Pradelles-Cabardès et à la livrer vers les plaines et le littoral, tout en offrant de l’emploi aux Pradellois. Les « inépuisables glacières de la Montagne Noire », slogan employé par les vendeurs, font alors connaître ce petit village de France profonde, devenu producteur de glace naturelle pour tous les commerces et utilisateurs d’un vaste territoire alentour, mais plus que ça, jusqu’au littoral méditerranéen ! Cinq panneaux de découverte ponctuent le circuit abordant différents thèmes environnementaux avec comme fil conducteur l’histoire de la glace de la Montagne Noire.

From Pradelles-Cabardès, you can hike up to the Pic de Nore, the highest point of the Montagne Noire (1,211 m). Around the village, unique buildings catch the eye of passersby. It is the 19th century, and Pradelles-Cabardès spends the winter in the cold and isolation. Snow, in successive layers, never ceases to cover the plateau. First there was one, then two, then three… %C0 to build watertight underground silos that would preserve the snow collected by the village’s men and women for several months. Ambitious, courageous, and enterprising, a handful of them set out to market the snow-ice from Pradelles-Cabardès and deliver it to the plains and the coast, while providing jobs for the people of Pradelles. “The inexhaustible icehouses of the Montagne Noire,” a slogan used by the vendors, brought this small village in the heart of France to prominence. It became a producer of natural ice for all businesses and users across a vast surrounding area—and even beyond, all the way to the Mediterranean coast! Five interpretive signs dot the trail, covering various environmental themes with the history of Montagne Noire ice serving as the central theme.

Von Pradelles-Cabardès aus kann man zum Pic de Nore, dem höchsten Punkt der Montagne Noire (1.211 m), aufsteigen. Rund um das Dorf ziehen originelle Bauwerke die Aufmerksamkeit der Spaziergänger auf sich. Wir befinden uns im 19. Jahrhundert, und Pradelles-Cabardès erlebt den Winter in Kälte und Abgeschiedenheit. Der Schnee bedeckt das Plateau in immer neuen Schichten. Zuerst sind es einer, dann zwei, dann drei … %C0, die wasserdichte unterirdische Silos bauen, in denen der von den Frauen und Männern des Dorfes gesammelte Schnee mehrere Monate lang aufbewahrt werden kann. Ehrgeizig, mutig und unternehmungslustig war es nur eine Handvoll von ihnen, die das Schneeeis aus Pradelles-Cabardès vermarkteten und in die Ebenen und an die Küste lieferten, während sie gleichzeitig den Einwohnern von Pradelles-Cabardès Arbeitsplätze verschafften. Die „unerschöpflichen Eiskeller der Montagne Noire“, ein Slogan, den die Verkäufer verwendeten, machten dieses kleine Dorf im tiefsten Frankreich bekannt, das zum Produzenten von Natureis für alle Geschäfte und Nutzer eines weitläufigen Umlands geworden war – ja, sogar bis hin zur Mittelmeerküste! Fünf Informationstafeln säumen den Rundweg und behandeln verschiedene Umweltthemen, wobei die Geschichte des Eises der Montagne Noire den roten Faden bildet.

Vanuit Pradelles-Cabardès kun je naar de Pic de Nore klimmen, het hoogste punt van de Montagne Noire (1 211 m). Rondom het dorp trekken originele bouwwerken de aandacht van de wandelaar. We bevinden ons in de 19e eeuw; Pradelles-Cabardès beleeft de winter in de kou en in afzondering. De sneeuw bedekt het plateau in opeenvolgende lagen. Eerst zijn er 1, dan 2, dan 3… die waterdichte ondergrondse silo’s bouwen waarin de sneeuw die door de vrouwen en mannen van het dorp is verzameld, maandenlang kan worden bewaard. Ambitieus, moedig en ondernemend slaagden enkelen erin het sneeuwijs van Pradelles-Cabardès op de markt te brengen en naar de vlakten en de kust te leveren, terwijl ze tegelijkertijd werkgelegenheid boden aan de inwoners van Pradelles-Cabardès. De %AB onuitputtelijke ijsbronnen van de Montagne Noire %BB, een slogan die door de verkopers werd gebruikt, brachten dit kleine dorpje in het diepe Frankrijk toen onder de aandacht. Het was uitgegroeid tot producent van natuurlijk ijs voor alle winkels en gebruikers in een uitgestrekt gebied in de omgeving, maar meer nog: tot aan de Middellandse Zeekust! Vijf informatieborden langs de route belichten verschillende milieuthema’s, met als rode draad de geschiedenis van het ijs van de Montagne Noire.

Desde Pradelles-Cabardès se puede subir hasta el Pic de Nore, el punto más alto de la Montagne Noire (1 211 m). Alrededor del pueblo, unas construcciones originales llaman la atención del paseante. Estamos en el siglo XIX; Pradelles-Cabardès vive el invierno entre el frío y el aislamiento. La nieve, en capas sucesivas, no deja de cubrir la meseta. Son uno, luego dos, luego tres… %C0 para construir silos subterráneos %E9herméticos que permitan conservar durante varios meses la nieve recogida por las mujeres y los hombres del pueblo. Ambiciosos, valientes y emprendedores, unos pocos se encargarán de comercializar el hielo-nieve de Pradelles-Cabardès y de distribuirlo hacia las llanuras y la costa, al tiempo que ofrecen empleo a los habitantes de Pradelles. «Las inagotables neveras de la Montagne Noire», eslogan utilizado por los vendedores, dieron a conocer entonces este pequeño pueblo de la Francia profunda, convertido en productor de hielo natural para todos los comercios y usuarios de un vasto territorio circundante, ¡pero más allá de eso, hasta la costa mediterránea! Cinco paneles informativos salpican el recorrido, abordando diferentes temas medioambientales con la historia del hielo de la Montagne Noire como hilo conductor.

È da Pradelles-Cabardès che si può salire fino al Pic de Nore, la vetta più alta della Montagna Nera (1.211 m). Intorno al villaggio, edifici dall’architettura originale attirano l’attenzione del passante. Siamo nel XIX secolo: Pradelles-Cabardès vive l’inverno tra freddo e isolamento. La neve, in strati successivi, non smette di ricoprire l’altopiano. Sono 1, poi 2, poi 3… a costruire silos sotterranei a tenuta stagna che permetteranno di conservare per diversi mesi la neve raccolta dalle donne e dagli uomini del villaggio. Ambiziosi, coraggiosi e intraprendenti, saranno in grado di commercializzare il ghiaccio-neve di Pradelles-Cabardès e di consegnarlo verso le pianure e la costa, offrendo al contempo lavoro agli abitanti di Pradelles. Le «inesauribili ghiacciaie della Montagna Nera», slogan utilizzato dai venditori, fecero allora conoscere questo piccolo villaggio della Francia profonda, diventato produttore di ghiaccio naturale per tutti i commerci e gli utenti di un vasto territorio circostante, ma non solo: fino alla costa mediterranea! Cinque pannelli informativi costellano il percorso, affrontando diversi temi ambientali con come filo conduttore la storia del ghiaccio della Montagna Nera.
