Belvédère du fays, Abbaye de Gigny – Gigny

Au départ de l'église abbatiale, vous monterez vers un beau point de vue sur le village bâti autour de l'abbaye dont les moines furent à l'origine de Cluny. Vers 890, Gigny fut une abbaye fondée par Bernon, noble du Comté de Bourgogne. Elle perdit ce titre à la fin du XIe siècle pour devenir un simple prieuré rattaché à Cluny. Elle se compose de parties romanes et gothiques.

From the abbey church, you'll climb up to a beautiful viewpoint over the village built around the abbey, whose monks were at the origin of Cluny. Around 890, Gigny was an abbey founded by Bernon, a nobleman of the County of Burgundy. It lost this title at the end of the 11th century, becoming a simple priory attached to Cluny. It is composed of Romanesque and Gothic parts.
