Musée du Marbre et de la Pierre Bleue – Bellignies

La ville de Bellignies a bénéficié durant tout le XIXème siècle d'une réputation internationale et d'une économie prospère grâce au marbre. Ce musée retrace ainsi l'histoire de cette industrie marbrière et de l'exploitation des carrières avesnoises du XIXème siècle à nos jours. Installé dans une ancienne marbrerie, il présente une importante collection de cheminées et de pendules (plus de 100), de sculptures et d'outils d'avant le machinisme, d'œuvres d'artistes. La vie des marbreries et le rude travail des ouvriers sont également évoqués au travers d'archives et documents d'époque.

Throughout the 19th century, the town of Bellignies enjoyed an international reputation and a prosperous economy thanks to marble. This museum retraces the history of this marble industry and the exploitation of the Avesne quarries from the 19th century to the present day. Installed in a former marble factory, it presents an important collection of fireplaces and clocks (more than 100), sculptures and tools of before the machinism, works of artists. The life of the marble factories and the hard work of the workers are also evoked through archives and documents of the time.

Este museo recorre la historia de esta industria del mármol y la explotación de las canteras de Avesne desde el siglo XIX hasta nuestros días. Instalado en una antigua fábrica de mármol, presenta una importante colección de chimeneas y relojes (más de 100), esculturas y herramientas de la época premáquina y obras de artistas. La vida de la marmolería y el duro trabajo de los obreros también se evocan a través de archivos y documentos de la época.
