MÉMORIAL DES DÉPORTÉS DE LA SARTHE

Après plusieurs années de recherche de 17 associations pour recenser les déportés de la Sarthe durant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, un mémorial est inauguré en avril 2019 au Mans pour leur rendre hommage. 1502 noms figurent sur le monument. 1502 noms, égrenés sur des plaques d'acier brossé, sur le banc qui entoure l'actuel Monument de la Résistance, place Aristide Briand au Mans. 1098 sont des déportés dits "de répression", résistants, déportés politiques ou de droit commun. Les 404 restants sont des juifs persécutés puis déportés par les nazis pendant l'Occupation. Tous sont nés, ont vécu ou ont été arrêtés en Sarthe.
