Le château de Werde, au bord de l'Ill – Matzenheim

Au lieu-dit "Woerth", au sud-est du village de Matzenheim, s'élevait le château dont il reste une grande enceinte comtale avec quelques terrassements et une cave voûtée sous l'édifice. Les comtes de Werde, Landgrave d'Alsace, sont mentionnés au XIIe siècle, signalant la naissance du château en 1185. Différents propriétaires se sont succédés, et au XVIIe siècle, le château fort fut transformé en château d'habitation. Aujourd'hui, les actuels propriétaires, la famille Million, a entièrement rénové et décoré le château avec passion, et vous accueille, en chambres d'hôtes, dans un cadre historique et enchanteur.

In the place called "Woerth", south-east of the village of Matzenheim, the castle was built, of which there remains a large county wall with some earthworks and a vaulted cellar under the building. The Counts of Werde, Landgrave of Alsace, are mentioned in the 12th century, signalling the birth of the castle in 1185. Different owners succeeded one another, and in the 17th century, the fortified castle was transformed into a residential castle. Today, the current owners, the Million family, has completely renovated and decorated the castle with passion, and welcomes you, in guest rooms, in a historical and enchanting setting.

Am Ort "Woerth", südöstlich des Dorfes Matzenheim, stand die Burg, von der noch eine große gräfliche Ringmauer mit einigen Erdarbeiten und einem Gewölbekeller unter dem Gebäude erhalten ist. Die Grafen von Werde, Landgraf des Elsass, werden im 12. Jahrhundert erwähnt und berichten von der Entstehung der Burg im Jahr 1185. Verschiedene Besitzer folgten aufeinander und im 17. Jahrhundert wurde die Burg in ein Wohnschloss umgewandelt.
