Description

To coincide with the publication of Théo Casciani's new book, Insula, in 2026, the author has invited sound artist Lyra Pramuk to give a musical reading. Insula is Théo Casciani?s second novel, to be published in January 2026 by Éditions P.O.L. Invoking multiple genres, eras and territories, shifting from one point of view to another, from one speed to another or from one dimension to another, it seeks to auscultate what lies behind our reality. If this story, inspired by a personal experience of bereavement, is at once a dystopia, an investigation, a love story and a ghost story, if it is as much testimony as science fiction, it is above all conceived as a portal between several worlds; between the true and the false, the real and the virtual, life and death. This hybrid proposal, at the crossroads of literature and music, was born during creative residencies at Villa Medici in Rome and Providenza in Corsica, devoted to the theatrical adaptation of the text.

Her work combines the potential of the human voice with technological wizardry. Her latest album, Hymnal, cultivates many of the themes introduced in her first opus, Fountain, released in 2020; again drawing on folk, house, techno, gospel and her classical training, this time she joins forces with the ensemble Sonar Quartett to construct a symphony dedicated to devotion, consciousness and care. This same philosophy inspires pop.soil, her experimental label which cultivates the exchange of ideas through physical and digital releases, workshops, performances and a fortnightly show on NTS. Often called upon for film soundtracks, installations and instrumental compositions, Lyra is also renowned for the ambitious shows she has presented around the world.
