Barbara Asei Dantoni's protean work is rooted in the intimate space she has created between France, Italy and Cameroon. In an introspective approach, the artist summons up the traditions, rites and symbolic figures of her ancestors, and appropriates the traditional know-how of her foremothers. She reinterprets them and elevates them to the status of works of art, creating a political object in the service of an emancipatory and memorial discourse.
