Description

He travels around Europe photographing deserted places: castles, sanatoriums, factories, institutions – what we call urbex. This is Dilezed?s second exhibition at L?Atelier papier. They present a preview of this series of photographs in medium and large paper prints. When they met, they said they had to do an art project together. They didn't have much time. Dilezed knew the place, Pamela filled her car with her old dresses and some of her masks A day of performance. They staged the bal macabre. It's all 19th-century English Gothic, the decor worthy of illustrations in Mary Shelley novels, Edgar Poe atmospheres and terrifying films. Death lurks in the dark remains, the tattered curtains, the killer staircases – every detail is disturbing. The lighting effects are perfectly mastered. Costumes and masks have an effect worthy of the masks of Ensor or certain paintings by Goya. Beyond the numerous references and traditions surrounding the macabre and the fantastic, the show works. Fear and attraction, purging and whispering, we flirt with the spirits and taboos that haunt all societies and all eras. The Ankou, the grim reaper, spectres, zombies? Pamela is dead stellt Masken aus Pappmaché und getrockneten Naturmaterialien her.
