Sylvie GRAVELLARD – Fondamente

Après un parcours de graphiste, j'ai rencontré l'argile, puis le raku en 1995, technique de cuisson d'origine japonaise que je n'ai cessé de pratiquer depuis lors dans de multiples variations. Depuis plusieurs années je travaille sur la forme et le mouvement, le poids et la respiration de la matière, sa peau et l'influence de la lumière sur la perception de la forme. Mon travail se nourrit d'une pratique corporelle et d'une recherche autour du corps, de rencontres autour du livre d'artiste et de l'écriture, d'échanges et de transmission par des ateliers de pratique artistique. Il se matérialise actuellement par des volumes ouverts ou fermés, des plaques et des livres d'artiste.

After a career as a graphic designer, I met clay, then raku in 1995, a firing technique of Japanese origin that I have continued to practice since then in many variations. For several years I have been working on form and movement, the weight and breathing of the material, its skin and the influence of light on the perception of form. My work is nourished by a corporal practice and a research around the body, meetings around the artist's book and writing, exchanges and transmission by workshops of artistic practice. It is currently materialized by open or closed volumes, plates and artist's books.

Nach einer Laufbahn als Grafikdesignerin begegnete ich dem Ton und 1995 dem Raku, einer Brenntechnik japanischen Ursprungs, die ich seither in zahlreichen Variationen praktiziert habe. Seit mehreren Jahren beschäftige ich mich mit Form und Bewegung, dem Gewicht und der Atmung des Materials, seiner Haut und dem Einfluss des Lichts auf die Wahrnehmung der Form. Meine Arbeit speist sich aus einer körperlichen Praxis und einer Forschung rund um den Körper, aus Begegnungen rund um das Künstlerbuch und das Schreiben, aus dem Austausch und der Weitergabe durch Workshops zur künstlerischen Praxis. Sie materialisiert sich derzeit in offenen oder geschlossenen Volumen, Platten und Künstlerbüchern.

Na een carrière als grafisch ontwerper kwam ik in 1995 in aanraking met klei en vervolgens met raku, een baktechniek van Japanse oorsprong die ik sindsdien in vele variaties ben blijven beoefenen. Sinds enkele jaren ben ik bezig met vorm en beweging, het gewicht en de ademhaling van het materiaal, de huid en de invloed van het licht op de perceptie van de vorm. Mijn werk wordt gevoed door een fysieke praktijk en een onderzoek rond het lichaam, ontmoetingen rond het kunstenaarsboek en het schrijven, uitwisselingen en overdracht via artistieke praktijkworkshops. Het wordt momenteel gematerialiseerd door open of gesloten volumes, plaquettes en kunstenaarsboeken.

Tras una carrera como diseñadora gráfica, en 1995 conocí la arcilla y luego el raku, una técnica de cocción de origen japonés que he seguido practicando desde entonces en muchas variantes. Llevo varios años trabajando sobre la forma y el movimiento, el peso y la respiración del material, su piel y la influencia de la luz en la percepción de la forma. Mi trabajo se nutre de una práctica física y una investigación en torno al cuerpo, encuentros en torno al libro de artista y la escritura, intercambios y transmisión a través de talleres de práctica artística. Actualmente se materializa mediante volúmenes abiertos o cerrados, placas y libros de artista.

Dopo una carriera da grafico, nel 1995 mi sono imbattuto nell'argilla e poi nel raku, una tecnica di cottura di origine giapponese che da allora ho continuato a praticare in molte varianti. Da diversi anni lavoro sulla forma e sul movimento, sul peso e sul respiro della materia, sulla sua pelle e sull'influenza della luce sulla percezione della forma. Il mio lavoro si nutre di una pratica fisica e di una ricerca intorno al corpo, di incontri intorno al libro d'artista e alla scrittura, di scambi e di trasmissione attraverso laboratori di pratica artistica. Attualmente è materializzato da volumi aperti o chiusi, targhe e libri d'artista.
