Musée Balzac – Château de Saché – Saché

Découvrez le château de Saché, lieu de séjours réguliers d’Honoré de Balzac en Touraine. Témoin d’une longue histoire, son architecture Renaissance porte les marques discrètes de son édification médiévale et de remaniements successifs qui expriment une atmosphère romanesque depuis le XIXe siècle. Son parc de deux hectares invite à la contemplation des paysages alentours, du village de Saché à la vallée de l’Indre.

A Touraine native, Honoré de Balzac stayed in a friend's castle from 1830 to 1837, in Saché, in the Indre valley. Built in the Middle Ages and remodelled during the Renaissance, it became a comfortable residence in the 19th century, surrounded by a garden planted with trees. The sitting room still has its original wallpaper, and the little room where the prolific writer wrote part of Père Goriot and the beginning of Illusions perdues is a touching surprise. Castle built in the Middle Ages, reworked in the Renaissance period and converted into an aristocratic manor-house in the 19th century. A refuge for Balzac, who invented the Comédie Humaine and wrote his masterpieces here.
