Salif Keita , «la voix d’or de l’Afrique », se livre pour la première fois dans un format acoustique épuré, renouant avec ses racines et sa guitare, son instrument compagnon de longue date. L’idée d’un album acoustique a longtemps été écartée par l’artiste lui-même. « Je ne suis pas guitariste, je m’aide de la guitare pour composer », disait-il, redoutant de laisser cette vulnérabilité à nu. En 2023, lors du festival Kyotophonie au Japon, organisé par la photographe Lucille Reyboz, et encouragé par le producteur Laurent Bizot (Nø Førmat!), un déclic s’est produit. Le titre So Kono, signifiant « dans la chambre » en mandingue, évoque à la fois la simplicité et la profondeur de cet album.
