Ein faszinierendes Leben zwischen der Versuchung des Anderswo und dem Bedürfnis nach Zuflucht, zwischen Konformismus und Übertretung, so launisch, unerwartet, lässig, rebellisch, hedonistisch bis zum Exzess, gierig und gierig zugleich; tausend Leben hätten ihn nie befriedigen können. Er baute in Rochefort ein exotisches Palasthaus.
