Description

Dioclesian is a play set to music by Henry Purcell (1659-1695) based on The Prophetess by John-E Betterton and Philip Massinger, which loosely evokes the life of the Roman emperor Diocletian. Through the music, we can perceive the dimension of the atmosphere intended by Betterton and Purcell for their show. And beyond the illustration of the play, the audience is presented with the fruit of the Baroque ferment of the 1690s and all the European influences brilliantly appropriated by the English composer. Violaine Le Chenadec, soprano, Ariane Le Fournis, mezzo, Francisco Manalich, tenor, Jan Jeroen Bredewold, bass With the Ma non troppo ensemble (Clémence Schweyer, harpsichord, Louis Creac?h and Fanny Pacoud, violin, Camille Rancière, viola Keiko Gomi, cello, Clara Hamberger and Cécile Chartrain, oboe) and the Petit Festival choir conducted by Catherine Walmetz Information and booking: https://www.sonarmein.bzh/
