Solo exhibition by Irma Kalt In her practice, Irma Kalt (Strasbourg, 1987) never ceases to anchor her forms, as if to make them her own: while her first move was through drawing, she then took a number of different paths (printing on paper or fabric, photography, vectorization, then drawing, painting or printing again). Through this complex moulting process, she decants her motif, and better defines the point of view or focal point that suits her: how do we look, and from what distance? Are we far away or inside? Between ancient know-how and contemporary technology, her works all bear witness to ghostly presences, graphic or pictorial data that have been there, become essentialized or disappeared, but continue to express themselves underground. For the artist, the fragile beauty of form can only be achieved through this slow process, during which the motif becomes weighed down with all these layers of memory. Her work can already be found in numerous public collections: Frac des Pays de la Loire, Frac Lorraine, artothèques de Strasbourg, Nantes and Angers, and in many private collections.
